Tania mistaken for suicide bomber

Aaargh, look out, it’s Tania Bryer! The former GMTV weathergirl was held at gunpoint this week after armed police mistook her for a suicide bomber. Hey, it happens.

Her car was seen hurtling at high speed up The Long Walk – a road that leads to Windsor Castle – and cops quickly stopped and surrounded it, suspecting a plot to assassinate the Queen. Inside, they found rather red-faced Tania, plus a disorientated driver.

“The driver got lost,” said a spokesperson for the celeb. “Tania was almost arrested and highly embarrassed.” Apparently she was late for tea with Prince Andrew – a likely story…

Tania then rang the Prince on her mobile, who confirmed he was indeed expecting her at his home at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, about a mile away. The rozzers, presumably worried she’d get herself into even more trouble if left to her own devices, escorted her there.

“The Long Walk is a 2½-mile pedestrian avenue,” said a royal source. “God knows how they ended up there. It was feared the vehicle could have been on some kind of suicide mission and officers took the appropriate action.”

Interesting times, alright.
